As the citizens of Vining always say, “The door to Vining is always open and all are welcome”!
This quaint community of 68 is located 25 miles east of Fergus Falls MN. The Otter Trail Scenic Byway runs through Vining which enables people to enjoy wooded hills, peaceful scenery, historic sites and crystal clear lakes.
“The Biggest Small Town Celebration in Otter Tail County” is held in Vining the 3rd Saturday in August. Watermelon Day is a annual Vining tradition. Watermelon is served free! This annual celebration hosts 70 to 100 arts and crafts vendors, a petting zoo for the kids, live music, bingo, a parade and a street dance at night.
And if you like outdoor sculptures, Vining is the place for you! Vining native Ken Nyberg has numerous pieces of his work scattered throughout the city, from a cowboy sitting on a fence greeting visitors to a nationally recognized 11 foot high, 1,200 pound sculpture of a foot.
